Kurdish police backs SDF forces in Raqqa operation
Hundreds of Kurdish security police forces on Friday arrived in the town of Ayn Issa from the Hassakah province to back up the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that will launch an operation to take Raqqa city in June.
Backed by the US-led coalition, the SDF has isolated Raqqa city, the de facto capital of the Islamic State radical group (ISIS).
Zuhat Kobani, a leader in the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) welcomed the Asayish forces that arrived in Ain Issa, a town that hosts hundreds of displaced people from Raqqa every day.
“This is a period in which we determine our fate in Syria and our new history. This history will be based on the common life and brotherhood of the people,” Kobani told reporters.
“The SDF forces in Raqqa will soon retake the city and provide safety to the people,” he said.
The official said that the people of Raqqa suffered a lot because of ISIS. He stressed that the SDF forces will liberate Raqqa and the internal security forces will ensure the safety and security in the area.
“These forces are drawing the future of Syria, and will be able to bring love into the hearts of the people who have suffered so much injustice and oppression under ISIS terrorists,” the Kurdish official said.
On Thursday, the first 50 police forces for Raqqa finished their training. However, due to the need for more police forces, the Rojava’s Self-Administration in the Hasakah province decided to send Asayish forces to provide assistance.
